49ers QB Alex Smith limited Friday, still on track to play

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Alex Smith was a limited practice participant Friday as he continues to recover from a concussion. Smith wore a noncontact jersey for the third straight day since receiving clearance earlier in the week. Head coach Jim Harbaugh, who recently is returning from a procedure of his own, told reporters that Smith will be monitored throughout the week before clearing him to play against the Chicago Bears in Monday Night Football this week.

Fantasy Analysis:

There is a lot of stake in this game. Chicago Bears quarterback Jason Campbell will be facing an old college teammate in 49ers CB Carlos Rogers. Both went to Auburn University and were teammates for their first five seasons with the Washington Redskins. The winner of this game will also have the advantage in earning an opening round bye in the playoffs. If you are hoping to use Smith for your fantasy team, that is not a wise choice. The Bears pass defense is among the league's elite and this is one of those games that could end up with a final score of 6-3.
