Cedric Benson
has been out of sight and out of mind for fantasy owners since he suffered a Lisfranc sprain in his left foot on Oct. 7. He is still a couple of weeks away from practicing and isn't eligible to play until Week 14. But Benson said he is making progess and targeting a Week 15 return against his former team the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field.
"I think we're still a little bit out from practicing, from putting on a cleat and pounding on it like that," Benson told ESPNMiwaukee.com. "I think we're still a couple of weeks away from that but very, very close. Kind of the way the doctor puts it to me all the time is regardless of anything, whether you could play tomorrow, you've still got three weeks where you can't play."
Fantasy Analysis:
Benson will be eligible to practice as soon as next week, but that won't happen as he's not that close to 100 percent. Considering that Week 15 matchup against the Bears, fantasy owners probably can't trust Benson enough to use him until Week 16 -- championship week -- versus the Titans. So, if you want to continue to hang on to him for one week worth of help, hey, you've come this far with him on your bench; why change course now? But if you need the roster spot for more valuable depth, feel free to drop Ced.
The Packers will continue to roll with a split backfield, but it sounds like James Starks
will get the majority of the touches this week. He's a flex option against the Lions on Sunday. Alex Green
hasn't really done anything to show that he deserves continuing to get 20 carries per game.
