Raiders running back Darren McFadden
went through three days of limited practice this week and looked to be on track to playing this afternoon against the Browns. But ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting that while there was optimism toward that end earlier in the week, McFadden is "unlikely" to play. McFadden has missed the past three games because of a high ankle sprain. Marcel Reece
, who has done a very nice job of filling in, will likely see the majority of the touches for another week.
Fantasy Analysis:
Big news if you were looking for clarity on this situation. We didn't really know how the Raiders were going to use McFadden and Reece, but with this news, Reece is safe to deploy as an RB2 against Cleveland. Heavy rain and wind is expected today by the Bay, so the Raiders may need to run the ball and depend on a short passing game more than usual, which is perfect for Reece. McFadden will still return next week, probably, and make this situation rather murky. But let's just take this one week at a time. If you have Reece and are fighting for a playoff spot today, you should be very pleased with this report.
