New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman
has been placed on season-ending injured reserve because of a broken foot. TE Visanthe Shiancoe
already occupies New England's "designated for return" injured reserve spot. WR Brandon Lloyd
will likely reclaim his role as the Pats' No. 2 wide receiver. Edelman was seen leaving the locker room on Sunday on crutches and wearing a walking boot. WR Donte Stallworth signed with the team as an insurance policy.
Fantasy Analysis:
Edelman had found the end zone in interesting ways prior to his injury (as a receiver, punt return, and fumble return). This injury should affect most fantasy leagues as Edelman was a popular waiver wire addition in the past few weeks. With him out for the year, it may seem logical to re-add Lloyd who may have been cut in some leagues. The problem is that Lloyd has been wildly inconsitent all year and may not be worth the risk during this critical point of the season with the fantasy playoffs upcoming.
