Denver Broncos head coach John Fox was reported by USA Today as saying that resting quarterback Peyton Manning in the final weeks of the season "has not been an option." Fox added, "right now, our main agenda is to get better and improve so we can be playing our best football in January." The Broncos are presently the No. 2 seed in the AFC playoff picture. If New England (the No. 3 seed) wins its final two games, Denver must win both their games as well to keep the second seed.
Fantasy Analysis:
This is great news for fantasy owners who will certainly need Manning on the field if they still have playoff games ahead. Manning hasn't played that great recently (514 passing yards, two TDs and one INT in his last two contests) but perceivably "easy" games against Cleveland and Kansas City to close out the season should not pose much risk. Manning remains a top-flight QB1 and must-start to close out the regular season.
