NFL scribes didn't expect Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski
to play again until Week 17 at the earliest, and now we know that is indeed the case. Despite going through limited practice throughout the week, Gronkowski has been officially ruled out for Sunday's game against the Jaguars. He had been listed as questionable on the injury report. Gronkowski, who hasn't played since Week 11 due to a fractured left forearm, will be looking to get on the field next week in the regular-season finale versus the Dolphins.
Fantasy Analysis:
Fantasy owners in their championship game shouldn't have been depending upon Gronkowski anyhow. ESPN's Adam Schefter has been saying for a couple of weeks that a Week 17 return looked like the most preferred option for the Patriots. But if your league continues on to Week 17 -- why? -- it looks like you can be cautiously optimistic that Gronk be available if you need him.
