It looked pretty ugly when 49ers wide receiver Mario Manningham
got his left knee all twisted around by the Seahawks' defense Sunday night. The results of his Monday MRI reflect that ugliness. Manningham has a torn ACL and PCL in that knee. His season is definitely over. Manningham signed a modest two-year deal with the 49ers in March, but he gave them little return on their investment, gaining 449 yards and scoring just one touchdown in 12 games.
Fantasy Analysis:
With tight end Vernon Davis' status unknown due to a concussion, the Niners will now have to depend on Michael Crabtree, Randy Moss and rookie A.J. Jenkings out wide. Obviously, that could be a serious problem for this offense in the playoffs.
Manningham did pretty much what I expected him to do this year: Turn a couple of decent years with the Giants and one huge catch in one huge game into a new deal and then do little with it. He's off the fantasy radar for the start of next season.
