New York Daily News' Manish Mehta is reporting that New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan would accept being fired should the team fail to upgrade the offense. Mehta also added that owner Woody Johnson is not likely to fire Ryan since he still has two years and $6 million remaining on his contract. That said, Ryan has not received any reassurances that his job is safe. "If Woody's not willing to do what it takes to fix the team, then [Ryan] knows he's better off being fired," a team source said.
Fantasy Analysis:
Shonn Greene will be a free agent this offseason. Mark Sanchez
signed a five-year, $58.25 million contract back in March. His $8.25 million salary in 2013 is guaranteed. This offense went nowhere fast all season long and even if Santonio Holmes
was around, it's not like things would have changed that dramatically. A new offensive coordinator is a must, but realistically, can the Jets really open it up with Sanchez under center? Doubtful. The Jets' drama looks to continue into the offseason and beyond. Frankly, Ryan should not lose his job, even if the media and many fans loathe the guy.
