The Washington Post reported that Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III
has partially torn his ACL and LCL in his right knee. Griffin will visit with Dr. James Andrew in Florida on Tuesday to find out whether the full extent of the injuries. No details about a possible surgery or a timeline for rehabilitation is known at this time. An exploratory surgery to check the severity of the injury is likely. Reconstructive knee surgery might be an option and would be the second such surgery on his knee.
Fantasy Analysis:
This is sad news for such a promising player. The argument has raged on whether or not the Washington coaching staff made the right decision in keeping Griffin in the game. The bottom line is that it is his body and ultimately, the final decision rested with him. He certainly wanted to be on the field and it's unfortunate that it has come to this. Further updates will be coming soon as more information is gathered about the extent of damage done to the rookie's knee.
