After going under the knife to repair his right shoulder, Dallas Cowboys outside linebacker DeMarcus Ware "hopes" he will be ready for training camp. ESPN Dallas reported that Ware could require another minor procedure on his injured elbow as well. Ware will be 31 at the start of the 2013 season and "only" had 11.5 sacks, his second-lowest total since 2007. He only had 2.5 sacks over his final eight games of the season.
Fantasy Analysis:
These injuries were a big damper on Ware's season. The Cowboys' defense struggled as evidenced by the firing of defensive coordinator Rob Ryan. They finished the season ranked 19th and 22nd in pass and rush defense, respectively. Losing Jay Ratliff
for a significant portion of the year also hurt and put a lot of pressure on an inconsistent front seven. ESPN recently speculated that the Cowboys may need to transition back to a 4-3 defense due to salary cap problems.
