Fox Sports' insider Jay Glazer recently reported that the New York Jets are having extreme difficulties finding a new general manager. He specifically said they "can't give the position away." Earlier reports suggested that San Francisco 49ers director of player personnel Tom Gamble was a favorite for the open position but that no longer appears to be the case. Glazer also added that "their cap situation, personnel, quarterback and the (media) circus turned a lot of candidates off." ESPN's Adam Schefter said Sunday that former Bears GM Jerry Angelo was under consideration.
Fantasy Analysis:
Is anyone surprised? It's a big, unnecessary risk to join a disjointed franchise. First, there is the issue of Rex Ryan who seems to make headlines for all the wrong reasons. Even with all his early success turning the Jets around, there was still the negative baggage associated with his comments in the press. Next, there is quarterback Mark Sanchez 
who is owed a lot of money and may not even return to the team when it's all said and done. The Jets also loaded up on a lot of veterans and there is certainly a lack of young talent on the team. All this makes the still-vacant GM job less and less appealing to outsiders.
