New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski
will go unde the knife Monday according to a report from CBS Boston. Early in the Patriots' eventual win over the Houston Texans, Gronk went up for a catch and landed awkwardly on his already injured left forearm. As previously covered here and elsewhere, the former Arizona Wildcat will miss the remainder of the postseason.
Fantasy Analysis:
Playing him was a calculated risk which did not pay off. Sure, the Pats still managed to win the game but at what cost? If New England falters, some of the risk should be placed on Bill Belichick. Hindsight is 20/20, of course, but the media will still call him out. Gronk will remain a top fantasy tight end for our fantasy purposes. Nobody can quite keep up with his tremendous production although it's likely for the best that he will no longer be a Top 20 pick. He and Jimmy Graham burned a lot of owners this year for failing to live up to exceedingly high expectations.
