According to multiple reports, the Arizona Cardinals have hired former Indianapolis Colts offensive coordinator Bruce Arians as head coach. The Cards also added former Philadelphia Eagles interim defensive coordinator Todd Bowles as their DC. Both hires were reported Thursday night. Former Cards DC Roy Horton had a "heated exchange" with new GM Steve Keim. Bowles implements a 4-3 defense so 2013 could be a bit of a transition year for the Cards.
Fantasy Analysis:
Horton should have no troubles finding a new gig and probably deserved to be the team's head coach and there is good reason for him to be "pissed" about it, according to Mike Garafolo of USA Today. He is a well-regarded coordinator around the league. Arizona ranked fifth in passing yards allowed (200.8 ypg), but did struggle at times against the run. After a 4-0 start, the Cardinals lost 11 of their final 12 games. Coaching changes were inevitable and this team has a long way to go to compete in the NFC West.
