The Raiders have hired Greg Olson to be their offensive coordinator. Olson spent 2012 with the Jaguars as their quarterbacks coach. He has been an offensive coordinator previously with the Lions (2005), Rams (2006-2007) and Buccaneers (2009-11).
Fantasy Analysis:
I picture that Olson's interview with Oakland's brass went something like this:
"So, Greg ... do you favor using a power-run attack?"
"Yep."
"You're hired!"
Olson already knows that one of his priorities will be molding his system around running back Darren McFadden
, who was lost in Greg Knapp's zone-blocking scheme. Everyone could see that early on in the season, but Knapp stuck to his guns, and McFadden turned in embarrassing numbers. But Knapp is gone now; he has become the QB coach in Denver. Of course, no offense is going to help McFadden play more than 13 games, something he has yet to do in any of his five seasons. It's that gigantic red flag that will have me overlooking him in drafts, although he should come off the board at a bargain price.
