Jaguars hire offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch

The Jaguars have decided that Jedd Fisch will run their offense next season. Fisch was hired Saturday to be the Jaguars' offensive coordinator. He spent the past two years calling the plays for the University of Miami Hurricanes' offense. Fisch, 36, already has nine years of NFL experience, starting in 2001 with the Texans. He has coached for the Ravens and Broncos and most recently, he spent 2010 as the Seahawks' quarterbacks coach. That's how he is connected to Jacksonville's first-year head coach, Gus Bradley.

Fantasy Analysis:

The Hurricanes didn't put up out-of-this-world numbers with Fisch; they finished 37th and 70th in the nation in total offense the past two seasons, respectively. Like Marty Mornhinweg with the Jets, Fisch's success as a coach will depend less on what he does and more on what the Jaguars do with their quarterback position. Right now, not many OCs are going to look good with Blaine Gabbert @BlaineGabbert or Chad Henne under center. However, if a solution can be found there, the Jaguars have solid offensive pieces surrounding the QB -- Maurice Jones-Drew @Jones_Drew32, Cecil Shorts @CecilShortsIII and Justin Blackmon @JustBlack81.
