QB Michael Vick, Eagles agree on restructured 1-year deal

By: Scott Atkins

Michael Vick @MikeVick will be staying in Philadelphia, at least for now. The Eagles announced Monday that they and Vick have agreed on a new one-year deal to keep Vick around for head coach Chip Kelly's first season. Vick was set to make $15.5 million under the six-year deal he signed with the team before the 2011 season. This new deal is incentive-laden and could be worth as much as $10 million, according to NFL Network's Albert Breer. The Eagles also said Vick will compete for the starting job with Nick Foles @NFoles8.

Fantasy Analysis:

A healthy Mike Vick is easily preferred over a young Nick Foles, fumbling issues aside. Playing for the offensively minded Kelly should also be perceived as good news for Vick's fantasy owners. A big question still remains: Can Vick stay upright and healthy long enough to showcase his physical talents? The offensive line needs a lot of work and hopefully is addressed during free agency and the draft. Vick's dynasty stock is bumped up a bit on this news as not having a home can be quite the trade deflator in offseason negotiations. If you play in dynasty leagues, are a Vick owner and have some young depth at the position, we'd sell on this news for an upcoming draft pick. If you can find a team in need of a QB (think a worried RG3 owner), you should be able to net a late first-round pick or early second on this news. This draft isn't particularly loaded with high-end talent, but it is a very deep class through the first two rounds.
