Eagles are also talking about using two running backs

During a Monday radio interview, Titans running backs coach Sylvester Croom talked about how you need two running backs to be successful in the NFL. Maybe Eagles offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur was listening because he expressed similar sentiments later that day.
"I think it's important that you use more than one running back," Shurmur said, via CSNPhilly.com. "It's a long season, and a guy can run out of gas quickly.
"If you have guys who are different, you can use them in different ways, and you try to play to their strengths. I think that's important.
"I've always believed there's a place on the roster for two good running backs."

Fantasy Analysis:

The Eagles certainly own two good running backs in LeSean McCoy @CutonDime25 and Bryce Brown, and Shurmur said both will get a "generous number of carries" next season. Brown burst on to the scene quickly with some monster games late in 2012, but he was done in by numerous fumbles and a high propensity of not following his blocks. He can be a big-time playmaker for Chip Kelly, but let's not overstate Shurmur's words here. Brown will get some carries in each game, but McCoy is the Eagles' top running back without question. He is still just 24 years old and should fit perfectly in Kelly's up-tempo offense. Shurmur and Croom are right -- you need more than one runner to be successful. Every NFL team uses multiple running backs to varying degrees, but that doesn't mean the second running back gets 30-50 percent of the touches. The starting jobs and carry counts of McCoy and Chris Johnson are pretty safe.
