Colts news: WR Austin Collie not coming back; TE Dwayne Allen is a 'tremendous weapon'

Colts owner Jim Irsay said Saturday that the team will not re-sign free agent wide receiver Austin Collie @AKCollie_17. Collie, 27, has spent his entire four-year career with the Colts, but his last three years have been marred by four concussions followed by a torn patellar tendon in his first game back this season from post-concussion symptoms.
Elsewhere on the offensive side in Indy, it appears tight end Dwyane Allen has a fan in offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton. Hamilton told the team's official website that Allen "is a tremendous weapon that you want to have in any offense" because Allen can lineup all over the field, block and win one-on-one matchups against defenders. Allen caught 45 passes for 521 yards and three touchdowns during his rookie year.

Fantasy Analysis:

The popular rumor now is that Collie might reunite with Peyton Manning and become the Broncos' slot receiver, but while that would make for a good story, I wouldn't find that move very intriguing. One, who knows how Collie's body will respond following the patellar tendon surgery? That type of injury could really impact him going forward. Not to mention that another concussion could (should?) end his career. Plus, I don't think Collie would be anything more than fantasy WR depth as he would enter an offense with Demaryius Thomas, Eric Decker, a good running game and a couple of decent tight ends.
Speaking of tight ends, those words from Hamilton are all well and good, but it sounds like typical praise. I'm sure Hamilton has good things to say about Coby Fleener, too. As long as Allen and Fleener are playing together, each of their fantasy values will be capped, and both are out of the TE1 range.
