Surgery wasn't expected for Broncos running back Knowshon Moreno
after he suffered a knee injury during the team's overtime playoff loss to the Ravens. But in actuality, Moreno did need surgery. Head coach John Fox said Thursday that Moreno got his right knee scoped shortly after the season. According to Fox via the Denver Post, Moreno underwent a treatment to insert stem cells harvested from bone marrow in his pelvis into his right knee. He is currently rehabbing.
Fantasy Analysis:
Moreno tore the ACL in the same knee in 2011. He should be healthy for offseason workouts in a few months, but it remains to be seen if he will be attending those workouts with the Broncos or with some other franchise. Currently, he will count $3.28 million against the salary cap next season and is a candidate to be released.
