According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Patriots wide receiver Wes Welker
has "no plans" to re-sign with the team before the start of the league year Tuesday, at which time Welker will become a free agent. Welker, 31, caught 118 passes for 1,354 yards and six touchdowns last season.
Fantasy Analysis:
CSN New England reported Monday that Welker and the Patriots were closing in on a contract, but that doesn't appear to be reality. Although Welker will test free agency, it would be a surprise to not see him back in New England next season. Especially considering the rumors that Brandon Lloyd will be released before long, re-signing Welker should be a major priority for the Pats. He will turn 32 in May, but he is still one of the most dependable receivers in the game and one of the best PPR players around.
