David Garrard is back in the NFL, and he is a New York Jet. The team made the announcement Monday, and Garrard quickly followed with a tweet confirming as much. Garrard, 35, hasn't played since the close of the 2010 season. The Jaguars cut him unexpectedly prior to the 2011 season, and he didn't make it out of Dolphins training camp last year. Garrard worked out for the Jets almost a couple of weeks ago, and he will vie for the starting quarterback job.
Fantasy Analysis:
What are the odds that Garrard wins that battle? Yeah, he is in his mid-30s, is not physically special by any means and hasn't played in meaningful game in more than two years. But when you've got Mark Sanchez
and Greg McElroy
(and maybe Tim Tebow?) as your competition, you've got to believe that Garrard has a real shot here. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing (or just really funny), but the addition of Garrard doesn't change my opinion on this offense. Avoid.
