RB Mike Goodson joins Jets on 3-year deal

The Jets have made a move that might actually help their offensive production this season. They signed former Raiders running back Mike Goodson @GoodNplenty33 to a three-year contract Friday. The deal is worth a total of $6.9 million. Goodson touched the ball just 51 times in 12 games last season. He was passed by Marcel Reece on the depth chart as the Raiders' No. 2 running back due to injury, but he did average 6.3 yards per carry and has shown himself to be a capable receiver.

Fantasy Analysis:

Goodson has always been a backup, but he should have a larger role with the Jets. He has never been given a big opportunity despite playing well in limited duty. He is an elusive back and a quality pass catcher. He caught 40 passes in 2010 with the Panthers, and his career yards-per-carry average is 4.5. Considering his skill set and the length of the contract, the price tag is relatively cheap. Goodson will provide more juice and activity to a running game that has had to suffer through Shonn Greene's sluggish ways. We will find out in the coming months about how and how often the Jets plan to use him, but Goodson should definitely be an all radars right now. He could enter the season as the Jets' starting RB.
