Brandon Lloyd insurance? Patriots sign WR Donald Jones

The Patriots have signed former Bills wide receiver Donald Jones @Dajones19. Jones, 25, set career highs in his third season with 41 receptions, 443 yards, and four scores last season. However, he has missed 12 games since the start of 2011 and has ended each of those years on injured reserve.

Fantasy Analysis:

The bigger story here could be how this impacts Brandon Lloyd @mrblloyd's future with the Patriots. It has been expected for a while that the Patriots will cut him -- he is due a $3 million roster bonus Saturday -- but ESPN's Adam Schefter said earlier today that the two sides are working on restructuring his deal, and Lloyd is willing to return at a reduced rate. If Lloyd stays with the Patriots, Jones will be no better than the team's No. 3 WR, which is kind of like the fifth or sixth option in that offense. However, Jones could start out wide if New England can't reach a solution with Lloyd.
