QB Matt Hasselbeck joins Colts shortly after release from Titans
Matt Hasselbeck was cut by the Titans on Monday, but he found a team to continue his NFL career just a few hours later when he signed a two-year contract with the Colts. Hasselbeck will slot in as the backup to Andrew Luck after Luck's previous backup, Drew Stanton, agreed to terms with the Cardinals. Hasselbeck spent two seasons with Tennessee, the second of which was spent as Jake Locker's backup. He threw seven touchdowns and five interceptions in eight games last year.
Hasselbeck wanted to go to a team that would give him a chance to reach the playoffs again; the Colts are a pretty nice candidate to do so. Hasselbeck will be a fine mentor for Luck, even though he is running very low at his age on NFL talent. The Colts' offense will be in trouble if something happens to its franchise quarterback.
