Raiders crafting offense around RB Darren McFadden

ESPN's AFC West blogger, Bill Williamson, wrote a post Wednesday entitled, "Should Darren McFadden @dmcfadden20 be traded." It presents McFadden's expiring contract, injury history and trade value as the team continues in rebuilding mode as reasons why it could happen. But it won't. The Raiders haven't hinted toward any such move, and why would they? As head coach Dennis Allen said, the Raiders recent offensive coaching hires were made with McFadden in mind.
"[McFadden's] most effective years have been in downhill, power scheme," Allen said. "That's why Greg Olson and Tony Sparano are here."

Fantasy Analysis:

Olson, the offensive coordinator, and Sparano, the offensive line coach, have experience running a power scheme. You know by now that McFadden's one year in a zone-blocking scheme with former OC Greg Knapp in 2012 was simply awful. The Raiders are re-installing the system that helped McFadden become one of the NFL's best players in 2010 and 2011. However, McFadden still couldn't stay healthy in those seasons. He has never stayed healthy in any season. That, regardless of Oakland's offensive philosophies, will have the most impact on where fantasy owners take McFadden in 2013. I don't think I would draft him in the first round, but he is still an RB1.

Show case McFadden during pre-season, then trade him. The Raiders have too many needs, then to keep this China Doll on the roster. He has never, and will never play a full season. The Raiders have invested too many coaches and careers waiting for Mac Fragile to save the day. There are plenty of dependable backs of his talent, that can help the team now. To dedicate this season, and whole offense to one player (who spends more time in street clothes, than a uniform) would be a disaster. The only positive would be that next year the Raiders would have the number one draft pick. Solution, trade him now for more picks to plug the holes of the sinking titanic,or trade him after pre-season when teams cut some veterans.Either way, Baby Davis needs to pull the plug. There is No electricity left .
