Cowboys QB Tony Romo gets a $108 million contract extension

Tony Romo is now the highest-paid player in Cowboys history. He agreed to a six-year, $108 million contract extension on Friday that will last through his age-39 season. The extension includes $55 million guaranteed and a $25 million signing bonus. The deal also saved Dallas $5 million in salary-cap space, dropping Romo's number for this season from $16.8 to $11.8 million.
Romo set a career high in passing yards last year with 4,903.

Fantasy Analysis:

I'm sure many Cowboys fans think this contract is totally outrageous for a quarterback who, in their minds, will never be seen as successful until he wins a Super Bowl or three. But for fantasy, Romo is a consistently solid QB. He has thrown for more than 4,000 yards in each of his last four full seasons, and he has topped 25 touchdowns in five of the past six seasons. Plus, he is surrounded by a ton of talent.
Quarterback is incredibly deep this season, to the point that Romo is barely a top-12 player at that position. His inability to run puts him at a disadvantage in today's NFL, but Romo is pretty much money in the bank. His home fans will continue to agonize over his season-killing interceptions; you can deal with it if he nears 5,000 yards with 30 touchdowns.
