Panthers add WR Domenik Hixon

The Panthers might have found their new No. 2 wide receiver today. They signed former Giant Domenik Hixon @domenik_hixon to a one-year deal. Contract terms have not yet been made available. Hixon, 28, has spent the majority of his career on special teams as a returner, but he has been called into duty as a wideout every now and then. Last season, after Hakeem Nicks was forced to miss some time with a foot injury, Hixon picked up the slack. His standout performance came in Week 4 as he caught six passes for 114 yards. He finished the year with 39 receptions in 13 games for 567 yards.

Fantasy Analysis:

It's not like the Panthers are absolutely stacked at WR. Past Steve Smith, you've got the always-mediocre Brandon LaFell and a bunch of lottery tickets. Hixon might not burst out in Carolina, but he should be given a chance. He proved to be productive when the Giants needed him in a pinch last year. He could be a deep sleeper this summer.
Hixon's departure means Rueben Randle @RuebenRandle is the Giants' clear No. 3 WR. I really like him, especially in that offense, and you will hear me singing his praises more and more as we get closer to the season.
Or read about me singing his praises. Whatever.

Brian, as usual you have done a GREAT job on the fantasy analysis. I, too, think Randle could end up as a great value pick this year, especially with the always brittle Hakeem Nicks just in front of him in the pecking order.
