UPDATE: Packers QB Aaron Rodgers signs richest contract extension in NFL history

Update: Here are the contract figures from NFL Network's Ian Rapoport: It's a five-year extension worth $110 million. Rodgers will get $40 million in the first season, $62 million over the first three seasons guaranteed. He is now signed through 2019. By comparison, the Ravens signed Joe Flacco to a six-year, $120.6 million contract in March.

-----------------------------------

The headline says it all. The Packers announced Friday that they have signed quarterback Aaron Rodgers @AaronRodgers12 to a multi-year contract. Rodgers had two years and $17.5 million left on his previous deal. Financial terms and other specifics will be coming shortly. But ESPN's Adam Schefter has already tweeted that Rodgers will now be the highest-paid player in league history.

Fantasy Analysis:

Uh, I think it's deserved. Rodgers has led the Packers to the playoffs in each of the past four seasons, including one Super Bowl win. He has never thrown more than 13 interceptions in any season and finished in the single digits of that category in three of the past four years. Meanwhile, he has averaged 35.5 touchdowns per year since 2009. His completion percentage is commonly above 65, and he has the athleticism to add 200-300 yards and a few more scores as a runner. There are a bunch of other numbers I could throw out at you that basically state the same conclusion: Aaron Rodgers is awesome at his job. He is the No. 1 fantasy quarterback and won't turn 30 until December.
