Chargers approached RB LaDainian Tomlinson about a 2013 comeback

LaDainian Tomlinson, one of the greatest running backs of all time and a fantasy football god, was given an opportunity to play this season. He told Yahoo's Michael Silver on Saturday that Chargers executive vice president John Spanos, general manager Tom Telesco and head coach Mike McCoy recently asked him to come out of retirement.
"At first, I thought they weren't really serious, but they kept talking about it, and I realized it was real," Tomlinson remarked. "They said, 'You can come back and carry it 10 or 12 times a game. We'd like to have you here."
Alas, Tomlinson turned down their advances.
"No, because when I made the decision to walk away, I wrestled with it long and hard, and I knew it was final. Once I retired, that was it. My mind is in a different place. Mentally, going back would have been too hard."

Fantasy Analysis:

Anything to get away from Ryan Mathews, right? Cool stuff, but a good decision by Tomlinson. His last few years were tough to watch, and he picked a good time to walk away. He's a first-ballot Hall of Famer, and one of the most productive and dominant players in fantasy football ever. I owned him on my team in 2002 and in his out-of-this-world 2006 season. It was fun.
