Handcuff alert: Buccaneers rookie RB Mike James has 'inside track' on backup job

Doug Martin @DougMartin22 touched the ball 368 times last year. Not that the Bucs seem to have a problem with that. Martin is one of the best young running backs in the league and has the body to take on that kind of workload. But in the event that he is fell by injury, the Bucs need someone more suited than Brian Leonard @Brian40Leonard to be their No. 2 guy. And it sounds like they found him in sixth-round rookie Mike James.
According to Stephen Holder of the Tampa Bay Times, Bucs general manager Mark Dominik "repeatedly" mentioned James' name during a Friday radio interview and said he has the "inside track" on being Martin's direct backup.

Fantasy Analysis:

James' size is similar to Martin's, but he is nowhere near as gifted as a runner. But he's a better player than the departed LeGarrette Blount, and Leonard is more of a third-down player than anything else. The only other guys on the Bucs' RB depth chart are Jeff Demps, who is more Olympian than football player right now, and Michael Smith @michaeldsmith34, who was a common inactive and played in just one game as a rookie last season.
So, yeah. James has a good shot of being the handcuff to Martin this year. He's not a special talent, but keep James' name in mind if you spend a first-round pick on Martin.

Brian Who ? Mike What ?...All I heard you say was Dougie is going to get the rock early and often, and RB's NOT in a comittee these days are a thing to be coveted. With the oft-injured O-line back to full strenghth, anything less than a Top 5 preformance would be shocking and very disappointing. I'm All-In on Doug Martin this year !!!
