Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski will undergo fourth surgery soon, docs hope infection has cleared

A source told the Boston Herald that New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski @RobGronkowski will need "a fourth operation to change the plate that's securing the broken bone in [his] forearm." The team hopes this will be his final surgery before recovery. For those unfamiliar with Gronk's situation, he may need an additional fifth surgery if the infection in his arm has not been completely flushed out. That scenario would jeopardize his ability to participate in the start of the season. If the infection is gone, they can remove the plate and he can begin his final recovery period.

Fantasy Analysis:

This surgical dilemma has lingered for quite awhile. It certainly does not seem as though, given the lack of positive news, that it will turn out how many Patriots fans have hoped. Complications and extra surgeries are an unwelcomed problem, even for a role player. Fantasy owners should be cognizant of Gronkowski's persistent injury issues and concerns before committing a second or third round pick on him. According to Fantasy Football Calculator's average draft position estimates, Gronk's ADP has fallen a full round in the last month dropping from 2.08 to 3.09 in a 12-team standard league.
