Vikings won't rush WR Cordarrelle Patterson

Being a student of the game is not what made wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson @ceeflashpee84 a first-round draft pick in April. He is big, fast, athletic and can catch. He is a very raw talent. The Vikings know this, and that's why their plan is to bring him along slowly in his rookie season.
"We don't want to give [Patterson] too much early," head coach Leslie Frazier said to the Minneapolis Star Tribune. "We want to make sure we do enough to get him on the field and really go to his strengths. There are some things that we have in mind."

Fantasy Analysis:

Early on, Patterson will most likely be used in long-distance situations where he can use his track speed. He will also return kicks. As the season goes along, Patterson will learn and hopefully contribute more and more. The Vikings' set of wide receivers is so thin, he shouldn't have much trouble breaking into the starting lineup before long (I'm banking on another underwhelming year from Jerome Simpson @rome081). But Patterson has a ways to go, and quarterback Christian Ponder doesn't inspire confidence. Patterson is a great grab in dynasty leagues, but he's more of a wait-and-see in redraft leagues.
