UPDATE: Patriots sign Tim Tebow, expect him to be at minicamp Tuesday

Patriots head coach Bill Belichick was telling the truth; he doesn't hate Tim Tebow @TimTebow. Actually, he wants him on his team. ESPN's Ed Werder is reporting that the Patriots will sign former Jets and Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow today, and he is expected to be in attendance at minicamp on Tuesday. In a corresponding move, the Patriots released quarterback Mike Kafka.

Update: The Patriots signed Tebow to a two-year deal worth $1.36 million with no guaranteed money. Very low risk.

Fantasy Analysis:

Of course ESPN breaks this story. They now have their story of the summer. Fantasy analysis? I'm just stunned. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport says that Tebow will remain a quarterback. Or at least line up as a quarterback. However, CBS Sports' Mike Freeman has been told by a source that Tebow will study "a great deal at tight end." I'm sure the Patriots will use him better than how the Jets did; that won't take much. But he will most likely continue to be a bit-part player, contributing here and there, most likely as a runner -- IF he makes the team. That's not a guarantee. Tom Brady's playing time is not at risk. I think Tebow will be used sparingly and have minimal fantasy value. There are still a lot of unknowns here, but given Tebow's past as a goal-line runner, I do think this could be bad news for Stevan Ridley @StevanRidley's touchdown total. That's probably the biggest fantasy impact of this story.
