49ers give WR Austin Collie a workout

The San Francisco 49ers worked out oft-concussed wide receiver Austin Collie on Thursday. Collie is fully recovered from a right ruptured patellar tendon that ended his 2012 season. There are also obvious concerns about his concussion history, his last one coming during the 2012 preseason. Multiple neurologists have cleared Collie and the former BYU receiver took it one step futher by stating he would even "sign a waiver" if necessary. Collie also worked out with the Patriots on Tuesday.

Fantasy Analysis:

The 49ers recently lost another receiver named Brandon Carswell during his first practice with a team. He tore his ACL Wednesday. This in addition to WR Michael Crabtree @KingCrab15 who is likely out for the entire 2013 season due to an Achilles' tendon tear. Collie would have a very limited role if added to the Niners. He would likely fit in behind WRs Anquan Boldin @AnquanBoldin, A.J. Jenkins @17AJJenkins and Mario Manningham @Manningham49ers as the team's No. 4 receiver. In his last full season, Collie caught 54 passes for 514 yards and a touchdown so his fantasy potential is essentially nil.
