Jets sign TE Kellen Winslow to 1-year deal

The Jets signed Kellen Winslow to a one-year deal on Friday. He worked out for the Jets earlier in the week and left quite a positive impression with head coach Rex Ryan. Winslow, who will turn 30 next month, saw his only playing time last season come during his 10-day stint with the Patriots. He caught one pass.

Fantasy Analysis:

Oh, darn. Just as the fantasy football world was being swept up in Jeff Cumberland @Cumberland87 mania, the Jets pour some cold water on it. Seriously, Winslow will have a decent chance to become the Jets' starter with a solid showing in camp. He was a volume receiver with the Buccaneers from 2009-11 and no longer possesses the down-the-field athleticism he once had. He might have value as a TE2 as the Jets struggle to find a go-to target.
Also, when asked about Winslow's inclusion, Cumberland gave this priceless quote:
"With my size and [Winslow's] speed ... I would be more like Gronkowski, he would be more like Hernandez."
Hopefully the hearty laugh that results from reading those words carries you through the day.
