Former Patriots TE Aaron Hernandez charged with murder, 5 other crimes

Aaron Hernandez @AaronHernandez is an alleged murderer. He was arraigned in Attleboro District Court on Wednesday and charged with six crimes, including the first-degree murder of Odin Lloyd, whose body was found on June 17. Hernandez was also charged with carrying a firearm without a license, two counts of possession of a large-capacity firearm, and two counts of possession of a firearm without a valid identification card. Hernandez's defense team requested bail, which was denied.
Hernandez was arrested Wednesday morning and then released by the Patriots less than two hours later.
The prosecution said during the arraignment that Hernandez "orchestrated" the "execution" of Lloyd. Hernandez allegedly shot Lloyd five times, including twice in the chest while he was lying on the ground. The prosecution said there is video evidence of Hernandez carrying a firearm through his house on the night of the murder and saying, "You can't trust anyone anymore." They said a shell casing was found in Hernandez's rental car. The prosecution also said there were text messages sent on the night of the murder from Lloyd to his sister where Lloyd asked, "you see who I left with?" He later added, "NFL." The last text message has Lloyd telling his sister that he is with Hernandez, "just so you know." The firearm charges are related to the guns found in Hernandez's home, but the murder weapon is still missing.

Fantasy Analysis:

And there's more evidence. What can you say? It's a sad, disgusting event. A man is dead and many lives have been shattered. I understand innocence until proof of guilt, but I think it's easy to say that Aaron Hernandez's NFL career is all but over.

I've been getting little phone alerts about this all day, but checked here to see if there were any new details. Looks like not really but... wanted to say this is a great summary of the evidence and of the events today. If anyone else is on here reading the article, this piece has everything there is to know right now.

I know there aren't a lot of comments on the news blips on here each day, but I, like some others I know (and I imagine PLENTY of people I don't know) check these quite routinely (multiple times a day during fantasy season). I appreciate the succinct facts & always having a brief idea of whether it impacts fantasy. While I go to ESPN or some other sites for big long opinion pieces, I prefer getting my real news here (so I am here WAY more than any other site). You've reliably got what we need to know as football/fantasy fans w/out the fluff.

And as I never said it on some of the previous stories... I also appreciate some of the sad news pieces & such when you use the "Fantasy Analysis" to say that there are some things more important than Fantasy, and just use that spot to offer condolences. It's a human touch and a proper perspective you don't find on some of the bigger sites. You don't do it often (most fantasy news is just fantasy news), but it's been applicable for certain stories over the 2 years I've been on here (like the Colts coach's tough health situation), & those times always make me pause and appreciate what I have.

So since I rarely bother to log-in to my account in the off-season and give feedback, I just want to say thanks for being a great mid-size site & for being my football news home. There's a lot more value here (and value because it's not a "mega-site") than people might realize.

Anyway, looking forward to the 2013 position rankings & the super in-depth analysis you guys do later this summer (got me to my championship game this past season). Skol Vikes!
