Buccaneers HC Greg Schiano: 'We only have 1 starting quarterback'

Considering that the Buccaneers have refused to start discussions with Josh Freeman @JF5x about a long-term contract, they drafted a quarterback, Mike Glennon, in the third round to give Freeman competition, and there were rumors that head coach Greg Schiano didn't even like Freeman as his quarterback, everyone wants to speculate who Schiano will tab as his starting quarterback. He was asked about it on Tuesday by NFL Network's Andrew Siciliano, and Schiano pretty much repeated the same answer he has been giving for the past few months: "We have only one. It's Josh Freeman.
"I believe in competition, and Mike Glennon is going to be a tremendous quarterback in his time," Schiano said. "But we have a quarterback, it's Josh Freeman. He had a really good spring. I think it's really coming together, being in this system for a second year now and hearing the things over again after being able to study it, I'm really encouraged."

Fantasy Analysis:

There is no doubt that Freeman needs to prove himself this season and do everything he can to wash out the bad taste he left after his final six weeks of the 2012 regular season. But Schiano has been clear about this: Freeman is his 2013 opening-day starter, and Glennon is the backup. Past that, who knows? Schiano isn't worried about that right now.
Freeman put up decent overall numbers last year -- more than 4,000 yards, 27 touchdowns. But those closing two months really crushed his fantasy stock, and now he is buried deep in the QB2 range of an extremely talented crop of quarterbacks.
