Raiders running back Darren McFadden talked to Steve Corkran about 10 days ago, and one of the many questions Corkran asked was if we have seen the best of McFadden. The sixth-year running back responded with basically the reasoning behind why fantasy owners still want to own him.
"You've seen a lot of glimpses, though, but I can promise you that you haven't seen the best of him at all," McFadden said.
And that's why most of us continue to gravitate back to him. Those glimpses have been phenomenal at times. McFadden looked like a top-five running back in 2010 and 2011. Last season was an all-around bust, but with the Raiders returning to a power running game, the belief is there that McFadden can produce like he did in those previous seasons.
Injuries? Yep, those are part of the deal. But McFadden has now dropped from being a mid-first-round pick last year to being a possible third-round pick this year. That's decent value for a player who gained more than 1,600 yards from scrimmage in 13 games just three seasons ago. McFadden turns 26 in August.
