Giants RB David Wilson has made 'significant' improvement

Fantasy owners are expecting a big season from Giants running back David Wilson @4stillRunning. We here at FFToolbox have definitely tied our wagon to him. For him to live up to the hype, Wilson needs to erase his areas of weakness. Offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride said he has done that this offseason.
"You see a guy like David Wilson, who started with no clue on who to block, much less how to block, to a pretty good understanding of what it is that he has to do," Gilbride said, according to Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN New York. "Now it is a matter of doing it. And it is a matter of getting better at it. He is still not 100 percent. ... He still makes mistakes but there has certainly been some significant [growth]
However, Gilbride realizes that all of this has come with players in shorts. He said that until Wilson proves he can carry over what he has learned into training camp with full pads on, "you are still kind of holding your breath when you see him."

Fantasy Analysis:

We've heard this before. Wilson is really helping himself stay on the field more often this season. He is already expected to be the Giants' lead back, but he will see more playing time on third downs if he can keep improving as a blocker. Now, Andre Brown @drebrown35 will be a part of the Giants' ground game, and we talked about him on the Wednesday FFToolbox podcast. Wilson's touchdown total will be very modest because of Brown, but he has the explosiveness and opportunity to be a great RB2 or even an RB1. Among players around Wilson where he is being drafted in the third round, I would pick him before Frank Gore, Stevan Ridley DeMarco Murray, and Darren McFadden. Whether to take him before Reggie Bush or Maurice Jones-Drew is a tougher call for me right now. But I'm so high on Wilson, I'd probably do that, too.
