Jaguars won't know until camp how many carries RB Maurice Jones-Drew can handle

Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew @Jones_Drew32 is fully expected to be participating in training camp by either opening day or the first day of padded practices. Regardless, he should be on the field during the first week and supposedly running without limitations less than eight months after Lisfranc fracture surgery on his left foot. But as to what to expect out of Jones-Drew in game action, offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch doesn't quite know yet.
"We have to make sure [Jones-Drew] can just not plant off his foot, but be tackled on his foot and be able to bounce right back up and be able to withstand a lot of carries," Fisch told the Florida Times-Union. "When we start seeing those things, we'll have a better feel of what type of guy he can be.
"We're not going to overburden him until he feels he's 100 percent."

Fantasy Analysis:

MJD doesn't normally get much playing time during the preseason, but it will be necessary this year in order to see how he is able to move after a major foot injury and no game action in more than nine months. The Lisfranc nature of his injury makes MJD a relatively risky pick in the early rounds, but everything in his rehab sounds like it has gone smoothly, and he should be feeling 100 percent well before Week 1. Plus, we know the Jags' offense is centered on him, and he is a true workhorse. Again, it's little risky, but Jones-Drew could be a steal in the third round or fourth round.
