Rams' initial depth chart lists RB Daryl Richardson, WRs Austin Pettis, Chris Givens as starters

Oh, you know we are getting close to the season when teams start releasing depth charts. The Rams, who open training camp on Monday, have published their initial depth chart, and it displays Daryl Richardson as the starting running back, ahead of Isaiah Pead @iPead and Zac Stacy. Austin Pettis @Austin_Pettis and Chris Givens @CG1three are listed as the top-two wide receivers, ahead of Brian Quick @WORKAHOLIC_BQ and first-round rookie Tavon Austin @Tayaustin01.

Fantasy Analysis:

What does it all mean? Very little. Summer depth charts are often hollow, because so much can and usually does change before Week 1. Pettis got the nod probably as a reward for his strong performance in spring camp. Givens, as the team's most proven wideout, has sleeper appeal. Austin is being drafted as a WR3/WR4, and it sounds like the Rams will use him enough to make him worth it. I don't really care to own either Pettis or Quick, but their presence, along with tight end Jared Cook, gives Sam Bradford quite a nice supply of targets.
Richardson is listed as the starting RB most likely because he has the most experience of the three top guys. Good luck trying to choose a winner in that competition at this moment. I think Richardson will end up being the most productive Rams RB this season, but St. Louis is probably going to have a very crowded backfield, and it will probably be a headache-inducing situation for fantasy owners. Pead will miss the first game of the season due to a violation of the league's substance-abuse policy.
