Redskins RB Alfred Morris working on catching passes

Redskins running back Alfred Morris @Trey_Deuces had an outstanding rookie season. More than 1,600 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns -- that'll get it done. When speaking to the media Thursday, Morris couldn't remember how many passes he caught, but those in point-per-reception leagues probably haven't overlooked the fact that Morris caught just 11 passes last year. That causes him to fall in some drafts, but Morris said he is definitely trying to improve that part of his game.
"The more you can do, the better your chances are to actually be able to help your team," Morris said via the Redskins' official website. "Last year, why I only got like seven catches, I have no clue.
"I've definitely been working a lot this offseason, just building trust with the quarterbacks and coaches just to let them know, 'Hey, I can catch'. So I've been very good this offseason -- OTAs, minicamp, I did well. Hopefully during camp I can just continue to build off that, and hopefully it will translate on game day."

Fantasy Analysis:

Seven, eleven, whatever. It wasn't a very high number. Morris should have some clue as to why he wasn't a big factor in the passing game; he caught a total of 30 passes in four years at Florida Atlantic University. He is just not a great receiver. This kind of talk reminds me of those years when we heard about how the Falcons were focused on getting Michael Turner more involved in the passing game. That never materialized into much, and this might not either, but at least Morris is trying to strengthen an area of weakness. Morris is at least a top-15 RB in all settings.
