Chargers WR Keenan Allen has 'got a long ways to go'

Given Tuesday's terrible news about Danario Alexander, Chargers rookie wide receiver Keenan Allen has a chance to contributor right away, just as he wanted. He says he feels fine after October surgery to repair the PCL in his left knee. Now he just needs to get used to playing at this level, something that is a work in progress.
"Like every other young players, he's got a lot to learn," head coach Mike McCoy said of Allen. "He's got a long ways to go and he'll be the first one to tell you that. But he's buying into what (wide receivers coach) Fred Graves is coaching him to do.
"He's got a ways to go, but he's doing a nice job. He's competing. That's the most important thing. He's learning how we want to practice."

Fantasy Analysis:

The headline looks like criticism, but the story is very complimentary of Allen. It talks about his good work ethic, the smooth manner in which he runs routes and catches passes, and mentions how he commonly makes highlight plays in practice. Of course, the story comes from the Chargers' official website, so consider the source.
Allen is in the mix for playing time early in the season and is a smart late-round grab in deep leagues. Given the checkered medical pasts of Vincent Brown and Malcom Floyd, Allen could find himself starting before long. That is if he doesn't get overwhelmed by the transition from college to pro ball in his debut season.
