The one about Browns RB Dion Lewis being compared to Darren Sproles

Trent Richardson will be the Browns' bell-cow back this year, but perhaps there is a Pro Bowl-caliber player behind him on the depth chart? Here's Browns offensive coordinator Norv Turner on backup running back Dion Lewis @DionLewis28.
"Obviously my history, I've been involved with a guy of his stature," Turner said. "He's made a lot of plays and if you look out here it on the practice field it looks like Darren (Sproles). Now you've got to transfer that into games."

Fantasy Analysis:

That's fun, but pardon me if I scoff at Turner's words. Lewis didn't prove much to Andy Reid, a very good offensive mind, in his first two seasons in the league. He might be leading Montario Hardesty @MoHard20 in the camp battle to be Richardson's backup. But the Sproles talk is silly.

Do you have any knowledge of Dion Lewis or are you just saying he hasn't been fantasy relevant and therefore the comparison is silly? Seems like a lot of RB's are non-existent until they find a program / coach that uses them - for instance Darren Sproles, CJ Spiller were both in that category. It took Sean Payton to use Sproles a certain way for him to be discovered.

I'm saying Dion Lewis is not Darren Sproles. Just because they are similar in height and weight does not mean they are similar in skill. And they are not. Sproles is faster and a better receiver.
And while, yes, maybe some team will come along, give Lewis a major opportunity -- given he earns it -- and turn him into a valuable weapon, I doubt it will be Norv Turner. Don't forget that before Sproles found stardom under Payton, he was underutilized/not used correctly on a team coached by Turner.

I think I have to disagree with both of you. I thought Norv Turner utilized him well in SD, but when you're playing with an every down back that goes by the name of Ladainian Tomlinson, it's tough to get that much recognition. With Lewis in Philly, you have a young guy who has a team chock-full-of players who need touches; Lewis actually did get a shot towards the end of the season. I like the Sproles comparison. I actually think Lewis can have a better upside than sproles because he can take contact. May not be as fast, but he's quick, shifty and makes plays. He will get some important time with the Browns this year for sure.

And just to be clear, I don't mean Lewis has better upside this year. I'm talking over the course of his career.
