Jets OC Marty Mornhinweg: 'You score points throwing the ball'

Uh-oh. Jets offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg understands he's no longer coaching Steve Young, Donovan McNabb or Michael Vick, right?
Head coach Rex Ryan was not pleased that his OC dialed up just 16 running plays compared to 42 passes in the team's preseason opener Friday. Ryan wants to run the ball more, obviously. But Morninweg doesn't believe your offense needs to be balanced to win.
"Who said you need to be balanced?" Mornhinweg said Tuesday via Rich Cimini of ESPN New York. "You score points throwing the ball."
Mornhinweg then went on to say that no matter how the Jets score -- running or throwing -- he just wants to do whatever possible to win.

Fantasy Analysis:

I think Mornhinweg called that many passes because he wanted to get a good look at both Mark Sanchez @Mark_Sanchez and Geno Smith @GenoSmith_12. Plus, the Jets' running game was severely limited with Chris Ivory @ivory_29 and Joe McKnight @OfficialJoeJet inactive and Mike Goodson @GoodNplenty33 still absent from camp. But if the Jets are going to turn into a pass-first offense, I'll probably end up breaking a rib from laughing so hard throughout the season.

No one has to bash the Jets, they do a good job of that themselves.

As a Giants fan, there are many other teams that would be higher on my hit list if I was going to "bash" teams (Eagles, Cowboys, Redskins, etc). Rest assured that I don't write anything looking to snipe teams, and I don't hate the Jets -- or really even care about them.
It's just that when their coaches say things like this, or that they want Chris Ivory to be a three-down back, or are forced to possibly start Braylon Edwards and Kellen Winslow Jr., it's hard to ignore the low-hanging fruit.
