Chiefs plan for RB Jamaal Charles to miss rest of preseason
The Chiefs face the 49ers tonight, and head coach Andy Reid has made it clear that running back Jamaal Charles would be active if it wasn't a preseason game. But given the rather meaningless nature of the game, Charles will sit this one out. And he's likely done for the month, too. According to Pro Football Talk, the current plan is for Charles to not play again until Week 1 of the regular season in order to give him plenty of time to recover from the mild foot strain he suffered earlier this week.
That's fine. It would be nice to see Charles continue to play this month, but we got a pretty good idea of what to expect from him in Kansas City's preseason opener versus the Saints. Charles touched the ball on eight of the 14 plays run with him on the field. He caught three passes and scored on a one-yard touchdown run. He is a top-five RB in Reid's offense.
