Cardinals RB Rashard Mendenhall sidelined with knee injury

Rashard Mendenhall @R_Mendenhall left during the first half of Arizona's Saturday night preseason game against the Chargers after suffering a right knee injury. Listed as questionable, Mendenhall did not return. Whether just a precautionary decision or more serious will be revealed following the game. Before the injury, Mendenhall rushed six times for 47 yards.

Fantasy Analysis:

The ex-Steeler dealt with knee tendonitis earlier in training camp. He is also coming off an injury-plagued 2012 campaign. In other words, talking about a Mendenhall injury has become the default position. His position on draft boards is in the early 30's, which makes the inside runner a decent value if Mendenhall can stay on the field. At this point, that's becoming increasingly hard to count on. Same goes Ryan Williams, which is why the Cardinals backfield remains an ugly situation and on fantasy owners should tread lightly with during drafts. Reserves Stepfan Taylor, Alfonso Smith or Andre Ellington could have value at some point during the season.
