Redskins RB Roy Helu showing he's no mere backup

Roy Helu @royhelujr29's impressive preseason continued Saturday night as the Redskins' RB rushed for 70 yards on 13 carries versus Buffalo. Any questions about who serve as Alfred Morris @Trey_Deuces' primary backup have long since been answered. "It's often hard to determine the value of statistics in the preseason because first-stringers play little," Jason Reid with the Washington Post wrote. "What's easy to gauge, however, is the quickness Helu showed while juking two would-be tacklers on a 17-yard rush in the second quarter. A potential third-down back needs to be sure-handed. Helu fit the description on his nifty 21-yard reception along the left sideline in the first quarter."

Fantasy Analysis:

As a a rookie in 2011, Helu turned RB1/RB2 level projection for several weeks before injuries cut him down. It's possible he'll have some bye week flex appeal during the season, as he's also Washington's third down back. Even non-Morris owners can stash Helu on their bench. Former handcuff challenger Evan Royster is now battling Keiland Williams and rookie Chris THompson for a spot on the 53-man roster
