Texans RB Arian Foster says inactive summer helped him

It has been about a week since Texans running back Arian Foster @ArianFoster was removed from the PUP list and finally began practicing. For the three months prior to that, we in the fantasy world fretted continuously about the nagging calf and back injuries that kept Foster sidelined. But he thinks all of that time off will end up paying off because it saved him from the grind of training camp.
"You ask any player: 'How'd you enjoy the lockout season?' Great time," Foster told Sports Illustrated's Peter King. "You had a chance to train without [having to] practice every day. When you got back to training camp, everyone felt fresh. That's exactly how I feel right now. Over the past couple of months, I had the chance to just train and rehab and work on my body and didn't have all those carries in training camp. Even during camp I got a long rest [because of the back injury]. It's usually a grind. Now I feel fresh. I feel rejuvenated."

Fantasy Analysis:

That's nice to hear, and it bodes well for Foster's Week 1 status. But it still doesn't erase the fact that Foster recovered very slowly from multiple injuries. He's much closer to the back of the first round than the top in fantasy drafts.

i think you're mistaken to say foster is in the back of the first round. He has entered two season with injuries and still has been a top three back, now he comes into the season fresh and all of the sudden he's a bottom tier first rounder ... Well i have faith in foster and i'm taking him NUMBER 1 overall. Call me crazy but this is his year.

To rank David Wilson and Spiller higher than Foster on the top 200 is ludacris. Even a dinged up Foster is better than Wilson and the Bills offense will struggle including the injury prone Spiller. Watch.

Even in a TD-only league, I would look at Doug Martin at No. 2. That is just my opinion. I have no say in the rankings.

i don't care if he's fresh or rejuvenated. He's coming in with 391 touches last year. His YPC are dropping each year, his YAC were a measely 2.18 last year. Ben Tate on the other hand has been towards the top of YAC, and has a 5.1YPC since 2011. Sorry fellas, but this is not Foster's year. This is the year you'll see Tate take over full time once Foster goes down.

I'd take Jamaal Charles or Doug Martin before Foster.

I just got Foster i8th overall in a NFFC $league, 12-man PPR. I'm like, "WTF!?" I just picked him w/o even realizing Calvin Johnson was still on the board.

I picked up Foster 10th overall in a 14 team PPR league 4pt TD pass. Unfortunately, Megatron went 9 overall. I have never followed Foster before, and injuries to hamstring and back can linger. Still, I couldn't see myself taking another player at that point because the reward on that risk (which frankly every first rounder has -- season ending injury) is so high.
