San Francisco 49ers running back LaMichael James was forced out of action during the team's final preseason game with an injured left knee. James was seen on the sidelines with a ice wrap after a relatively unproductive contribution of two rushes for negative four yards. The 49ers have Kendall Hunter at the No. 2 spot on the depth chart with James coming in at third. The injury did not appear to be serious and there has been no announcement yet concerning any missed time during the regular season.
UPDATE: James out three weeks with sprained MCL.
San Francisco uses James sporadically and it doesn't seem likely that the former Oregon Ducks runner will provide anything more than a change-of-pace for Kendall Hunter, the 49ers' change-of-pace back. James' value is limited to dynasty formats so leave him undrafted on the waiver wire in any redraft/keeper leagues.
